We truly adore our signature anorak, A-shaped with folds, and how it breathes new life into pre-loved jackets. It becomes even more personal when you bring your own åkle to it.

Read the 'About this redesign' section to determine if your jacket is suitable for this redesign and to understand the type of åkle you need to bring.

The redesign wait is currently 2-3 weeks.

When you place an order, you help support the 'Seeds of Hope' program by The Small World. Our donation provides low-income families in Nepal with a bag of kitchen garden seeds, empowering women to find independence.

Please read carefully the sections below before you complete your Redesign order. We want you to be 100% satisfied with your redesign, the process, and your expectations.

  • This Redesign option is suitable for anoraks and jackets. (For jackets you will not get the flap pocket in front) If you prefer it without the fold on the back, the item will be more unisex and lighter.

As for the åkle you need to bring, it should be 75 cm wide and have a length of approximately 60 cm. (depending on the length of your jacket) The åkle will behave in the jacket as it is, whether it's stiffer and heavier or lighter and softer. I can remove the back cover (it normally has one), and I will wash it. Feel free to send us a question if you are unsure.

We will apply the Åkle below the back piece on the back, and to the side seam. The jacket can have added length on the back if that's preferable. If your jacket is an anorak with front flap, we will add the åkle to this.

Please be aware that if you have fastenings or other details where we replace with the åkle, it's difficult to keep it. The åkle is made of wool, so the jacket will still be warm, but it loses its windproof function on the back.

At the moment, we don't have the technical capability online to provide a wide range of design options. Working on various jackets, especially those with lining and padding, has proven to be time-consuming. Consequently, we currently lack the capacity to undertake such redesigns. If you have a specific item you're eager to redesign, please send us an email.

  • Step 1: Find a Pre-Loved Product and an Åkle that match together.

Search through your wardrobe for a pre-loved item that you believe would align well with our creative concept. For inspiration, explore our Portfolio Redesign section to get ideas on how to approach your redesign request. I'm sure you can determine whether the åkle you have on hand is suitable for the project or not.

Step 2: Choose a Redesign Option.

Visit our SHOP site and select the design for your chosen product. Pricing details will be available during the checkout process, and you can make the payment when placing the order. Upon placing your order, you'll receive an automated email. Reply to this email with any redesign preferences you might have. Step 3: Prepare and Send Your Item.

Carefully wrap the selected clothing item and send it to us. You will cover the cost of shipping it to us, and we will handle the return shipping back to you.

Please send your item to the following address:

    Step 4: Redesign Process.

Once we receive your item, Re-couture-Hilde will work her magic. We will send you redesign suggestions through SMS or email, depending on your preference, both before and during the redesign process. This ensures that your vision is understood and effectively realized. Your unique idea will be brought to life, transforming the pre-loved piece into a one-of-a-kind garment.

Step 5: Return of Your Redesigned Item.

Approximately two to three weeks after we receive your garment, we will send your redesigned item back to you. The timeline may vary depending on factors such as the progress of the redesign and the volume of orders in the queue. We hope this slow fashion item is worth the wait.

  • It's important to note that the charm of these redesigned garments lies in their individuality. As such, minor faults, variations, and seams that might differ from your expectations can naturally occur. These imperfections are the hallmark of a handmade process, showcasing the dedication and craftsmanship poured into each creation.

If you have received a garment that does not meet your expectations, you have the right to return it to us. In the event of any faults with the garment, we are committed to remaking it at no additional cost to you.

Our commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious fashion drives us to provide these one-of-a-kind garments, repurposing materials and reducing waste in the process. We believe that these unique characteristics add character to your wardrobe, telling a story of both innovation and environmental responsibility. We hope this makes it worth it.

  • Before you proceed further with this process, please be aware that redesigned garments require extra care. Take this into consideration before making a purchase.

Hand Wash: To keep your cherished upcycled garment looking its best, we recommend hand washing in cold water with a gentle wool wash. This approach honors the intricate fabric and its journey through time.

Machine Wash: You can use your machine if it has a hand wash program with cold water and no spin.

Low Spin Speed: After hand/machine washing you may select a delicate cycle with a low spin speed (400) on your washing machine.

Hang Dry: After washing, let your garment air dry, laying/hanging on top of your drying rack. This will ensure that it dries naturally and maintains its original form.

Store with Love: When not in use, store your garment with love in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

Fresh Air: Additionally, letting your garment hang outdoors in fresh air once in a while can breathe new life into it.

  • Creating a redesign for a customer is for sure more time-intensive compared to working on upcycled ready-to-wear items in the studio. This is reflected in our pricing for finished garments, which is relatively similar.
